New on 500px : Lower Antelope Canyon, Page, AZ by ChittaranjanDesai by ChittaranjanDesai

Lower Antelope Canyon is the less popular one in comparison to the Upper Antelope Canyon, but it is the longer, more rugged & has some unique textured cave walls etched by the immense natural forces of wind & water, which flood the canyons periodically. The Lower Antelope Canyon floor was muddy when we visited & did  give a somber reminder of August 1997, when sudden flash floods took lives of it’s eleven visitors. Since then enough security measures, sophisticated weather warning systems & firm ladders have been placed for the easy movement of hordes of tourists to this surreal place. Bracketing exposures & shooting up at   the portions where canyon rooftop lets the sky & at times the sunlight in, gives some interesting compositions.  via Tumblr

This sculpture in the Lower Antelope Canyon is called “Lady in the Wind” by the navajos and is a very beautiful result of wind and water erosion. via Tumblr
