New on 500px : Athabasca River – Jasper National Park by ryan_kole by ryan_kole

I was going through older photos from last year and forgot I had this one haha.

This was taken at the 6th bridge day use area. Since the fire was still burning by Medicine Lake, this was the farthest you could go along the road headed towards Maligne Lake. via Tumblr http://bit.ly/1RmOtFR

New on 500px : Saw whet Owl full by georgebest101 by georgebest101

The correct photograph this time! This is a Saw-whet Owl seen in Calgary. The light was failing due to it being dusk, but it actually helped on this day as it helped place an even light on everything. I interacted with the owl for roughly 5 minutes and left it where I found it. Click and go! via Tumblr http://bit.ly/1Z0rP76

New on 500px : A night in the Prairies. by heringchristian by heringchristian

Last night earth’s magnetic field was affected by a partial-halo CME launched from Sunspot Region 2473 on Dec. 28th. The early affects were not as strong as expected and resulted in just active geomagnetic conditions. Nevertheless, I had a blast out there at -12°C and a considerable windchill. On one spot coyotes scared me away. But I also witnessed a fairly bright fireball around 11.20pm, this here was on my way back home just outside the Edmonton city limits. The moon was helping to illuminate the scenery. via Tumblr http://bit.ly/1ZFA62h

New on 500px : FairyLand – Where Winter Never Come by HermanWong by HermanWong

This is another warm winter in Ontario, Canada. (last one was 2011) After a mild autumn, this pleasant weather continue into Christmas. This Christmas is actually a green Christmas. Forests are sprouting young buds, cotyledon and green mosses. Strolling along paths in forest is liked walking in fairyland where one would believe that winter never come. via Tumblr http://bit.ly/1Oy7GiP
