New on 500px : Breaking Wave at Cape of Good Hope II by rolandkunz by rolandkunz

Waves of a calm sea breaking at the rocks of the Cape of Good Hope, South Africa. Just imagine how this might look with heavy sea. Bartolomeu Dias, the first modern European that came that far south, called this point Cape of Storms. Cape of Good Hope is not a sailor’s term but the expression of a king’s hope for good business with the east. via Tumblr http://ift.tt/1OcfmgP

Male lions are generally larger than females and have a distinctive mane of hair around their heads. The mane’s function is to make the male look more impressive to females and more intimidating to other males. via Tumblr http://ift.tt/1RMWuEE

New on 500px : Alpha male. by MarkWiseman1 by MarkWiseman1

This is the alpha male of the Rooiputs pride. He is much smaller than Ash?Mufasa jnr, but he is packed with aggression and was chasing a subadult male lion for trying to sneak a bite from an eland kill. To see this lion running at full pace was something to behold. His fully extended front paws are the size of dinner plates and his front legs the size of my legs. Power and speed in abundance.
