New on 500px : “The Fan” – Schönbrunn by m-ltitze by m-ltitze

Exploiting the triangular form of the bosquet, the fan consists of eight axial paths separated from each other by high, meticulously clipped hedges and radiating out from a quadrant-shaped alcove in the hedge. At the outer end these axes are connected by a curving path.
At the narrow end of the fan (my pov) is a statue of Diana, goddess of the hunt, which corresponds to the figure of the sun-god Apollo standing at the center of the curving hedged walk in the bosquet known as The Archer that lies opposite. Both of these figures were executed by Hagenauer after famous classical models: the Apollo in the Vatican Museum in Rome and the Diana at Versailles, today in the Louvre. via Tumblr http://ift.tt/1NC8mn6
